Training Program

IDeA National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics

The Training Program is designed for core staff or advanced proteomics users from across the United States to spend up to two weeks at the National Resource obtaining advanced, hands-on training and mentoring. Each year up to 2 trainees will be selected to receive supervised training in our state-of-the-art proteomics workflows to support their career or research goals. for example, staff in a proteomics core could receive training in the areas of sample preparation, LC operation, MS operation, or bioinformatics of proteomics data. Similarly, investigators across the nation that have LC-MS systems in their own laboratories can benefit from additional advanced training and mentoring opportunities.

Mission:

• To fill a professional training gap in the field of proteomics by providing an opportunity to proteomics core staff or experienced faculty to receive supervised training to support their career or research goals.

Logistics:

• Travel, accommodations, and meals for trainees are provided
• Hands-on experience at the IDeA National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics located in Little Rock, Arkansas

Requirements:

• Open to current core staff or experienced faculty from laboratories across the United States who have active research aligned with the mission of the National Institute for General Medical Sciences (NIGMS)
• Interested applicants will be required to participate in a pre-submission consultation to discuss career or research goals and to communicate information on the training program.
• Applications are limited to 2 pages (11pt font, single spaced, 0.5-inch margins) and should include:
  • Brief outline of current research or core position
  • Discuss what specific areas or skills would be beneficial to learn at the resource
  • Discuss how this training program would support their careers or research goals
• Applications are due December 15 and will be submitted electronically at https://proteomics.piestar-rfx.com/.

Review and Prioritization:

• Staff from the National Resource will evaluate applications. Applications from the under-resourced institutions, and those from diverse backgrounds, including groups underrepresented in biomedical sciences are encouraged along with applicants with NIH early-stage or new investigator status.
