The IDeA National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics administers a reviewed, merit-based Voucher Program for NIH-funded investigators and other academic investigators from laboratories across the United States to access the National Resource for fully subsidized services. The goal of the voucher program is to provide pilot scale data to investigators that will create new hypotheses, support publications, and support on-going research studies within the mission of NIGMS. This voucher program is designed to support a 10-plex Tandem Mass Tag (TMT) or a 40-sample data independent acquisition (DIA) discovery proteomics experiment run on the Fusion or Exploris 480.
The IDeA National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics offers multiple workshop/symposium per year and are open to users nation-wide at all skill levels. The Symposium for Core Directors and Staff is targeted to faculty and staff operating proteomics facilities nationwide. The National Resource pays all travel-associated expenses to bring 15 attendees on-site for this symposium. Space is limited to 30 attendees onsite and a zoom link will be provided to a limited number of additional applicants.
The Fundamentals for Proteomics Workshop is designed as a two-day crash course in all things proteomics. Attendees receive lecture-style presentations, and breakout sessions are given on bioinformatics and experimental design. The National Resource pays all travel-associated expenses to bring 15 attendees on-site for this free workshops. Space is limited to 30 attendees onsite and a zoom link will be provided to a limited number of additional applicants.
The Training Program is designed for core staff or advanced proteomics users from across the United States to spend up to two weeks at the National Resource obtaining advanced, hands-on training and mentoring. Each year up to 2 trainees will be selected to receive supervised training in our state-of-the-art proteomics workflows to support their career or research goals. for example, staff in a proteomics core could receive training in the areas of sample preparation, LC operation, MS operation, or bioinformatics of proteomics data. Similarly, investigators across the nation that have LC-MS systems in their own laboratories can benefit from additional advanced training and mentoring opportunities.
The Fundamentals of Quantitative Proteomics Traveling Workshop is a one-day workshop at your home institution providing background on quantitative proteomics, training on experimental design, and information on how to use data in support of funding and publications. Attendees will receive lecture-style presentations, and breakout sessions are provided on bioinformatics and experimental design. This opportunity requires an interested institutional representative to apply for us to send two National Resource staff to their institution. This workshop is at no expense to the host institution as the National Resource arranges for travel-related expenses to send two staff. The host institution is required to provide a seminar room, local advertising, and lunch for attendees. This workshop can accommodate up to 40 individuals. This interactive workshop is designed to provide information to those new to the field of proteomics and provide on-site consultation for those designing new proteomics studies.
The IDeA National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics is seeking current undergraduate students from academic laboratories across the United States to apply for a summer internship. Selected students will work on a project relevant to human health led by faculty and scientists in the IDeA National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics located in the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The scope of the projects will focus on leveraging the core facilities state-of-the-art mass spectrometers to generate proteomic data from biologically relevant samples (tissue, plasma, cell lysate, etc.) and analyzing this data using bioinformatics. This internship is designed for students with a solid background in science who wish to know about translational research, scientific work in the laboratory that translates to direct patient care. This internship will provide experience in Proteomic and/or Bioinformatic Sciences and is designed to encourage pursuing a career in biomedical research.
The IDeA National Resource for Quantitative Proteomics is seeking current graduate students or post-doctoral researchers to apply for a short-term internship, which will provide exposure to daily operations and best business practices in a core facility. Applicants should have current, ongoing research that would benefit from an in-depth quantitative proteomics analysis and have interest in exploring a career in a proteomics core facility. Awardees will receive a voucher for one quantitative proteomics analysis that will be completed as part of the on-site internship.
